Today, the State Customs Committee hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky with the winners of the European Weightlifting Championship 2026.
This year, Belarusian weightlifters have won nine medals - two gold, four silver and three bronze. Belarusians took four medals in the two-man event, and won five more in individual exercises.
Suzanna Volodko became the European champion in the 69 kg weight category, she also became the best in the clean and jerk and the second in the snatch. Alina Shchepanova brought two silver medals (in the two-man and clean and jerk) in the weight class up to 63 kg to our team. Diana Moiseevich won two bronze medals in the same weight category. Among men in the weight class up to 71 kg, Egor Popov became the second in the point and the third in the total of the two-man event.
Vladimir Orlovsky, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Belarusian Weightlifting Federation, thanked the athletes for their excellent representation of Belarus on the international stage.:
You are the pride of our country and proof that nothing is impossible for those who work hard for results. The well–deserved medals are a confirmation of the high skill of the Belarusian weightlifting school and the worthy development of domestic sports.
The weightlifters shared their impressions of the tournament held in Batumi, Georgia, and talked about their plans for the upcoming starts. The Belarusian Weightlifting Championship will be held in August this year, which will be the next qualifying stage for international competitions.
At the meeting, representatives of the BFTA also discussed with the athletes the training process and preparations for the upcoming championships.
