The Grodno Regional Customs has opened a criminal case for attempting to evade customs payments on a large scale transporting perfumes across the border.

This was facilitated by the deliberate underestimation of the cost of the product by 2 million rubles.

The violation was revealed by Grodno customs officers during the inspection of a DAF truck that arrived from Lithuania at the Kamenny Log checkpoint.

In the documents submitted by the driver, the cost of perfumery was 3 million rubles, in fact it exceeded 5 million rubles. This was confirmed by the results of the inspection, as well as another set of documents that was discovered during customs control.

The criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for the imposition of a fine, or restriction of liberty for up to 5 years, or imprisonment for up to 6 years.
