Grodno Regional Customs has opened a criminal case against an Austrian citizen who arrived from Lithuania with cocaine.
The 35-year-old man was traveling through the Kamenny Log checkpoint as a passenger on the Kaunas-Minsk bus. He decided to cross the border through the green channel, thereby stating that he does not import goods subject to declaration, prohibited or restricted to movement.
However, in the customs clearance hall, a service dog pointed out the man. During the inspection of his bag, a package of sweets was found, among which were two bundles of polymer material with a compressed white substance.
According to the expert opinion of the Office of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations in the Grodno region, the seized substance is cocaine.
Grodno Regional Customs has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to 10 years in prison.
