Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Vladimir Orlovsky visited special sites in Belarus, from which Lithuanian-registered vehicles are leaving these weeks due to Lithuania's unfriendly actions, during a working visit to the Grodno region.
He inspected the «Kamenny Log» and «Berestovica» checkpoints, and the waiting areas located near them, where the safety of previously detained trucks has been ensured for four months.
Vladimir Orlovsky talked to the drivers who take out the vehicles. Many of them are not making their first flight today and are picking up the last semi-trailers, some have just arrived due to the delay in payment for storage or the load of tractors and plan to pick up several vehicles at once. In a conversation with the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, the drivers noted that they had no questions about the organization of the process by the Belarusian side.
Work on providing conditions for the movement of vehicles registered in Lithuania began on March 23, immediately after the Head of State decided to provide an opportunity to remove trucks, reducing the payment for their storage by several times.
To date, almost three quarters of the couplers, tractors and semi-trailers have already left the parking lots. Thus, storage services have been paid for 1,400 vehicles, about 100 of which are awaiting departure through Lithuanian checkpoints. It is predicted that the remaining 500 will also leave the territory of Belarus in the near future.
As part of working visit, Vladimir Orlovsky hosted a visiting reception for citizens at the Grodno Regional Executive Committee.
