Brest Customs operatives have suppressed illegal activities aimed at evading customs payments on a large scale. A criminal case has been opened.
During special events on the M1/E30 motorway section, customs officers stopped a vehicle driven by a Russian company driver.
The truck contained 312 units of various foreign-made machinery worth more than 420 thousand belarusian rubles. According to the shipping documents, the sender of the goods was a belarusian legal entity.
Subsequently, another car from the same shipping company attracted the attention of the operatives. It contained another 219 units of similar equipment worth over 240 thousand belarusian rubles.
During the inspection, it was established that the equipment was imported through the customs border by various individuals under the guise of goods for personal use. And on the territory of Belarus, she was going to be involved in illegal trade.
The amount of unpaid customs payments for the two identified shipments amounted to almost 190 thousand Belarusian rubles.
Brest Customs has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for punishment up to 6 years in prison.
