Belarusian customs officers have established three facts of illegal import of bullets for small arms into Belarus in a week. A total of 20,000 units were seized.
Earlier Grodno customs officers seized 13 thousand bullets from a Belarusian, and in the last two cases - seven thousand more Brest and Vitebsk customs officers from a citizen of Belarus and a Lithuanian carrier.
Thus, a Belarusian tried to import over a thousand bullets of different calibers into the country, hiding them from customs control under the passenger seat of his car. A 35-year-old Polish citizen was following through the Brest checkpoint. He chose a green corridor to cross the border, allegedly without carrying goods subject to declaration.
Brest customs officers doubted his words, having decided to inspect the vehicle. As a result, a batch of bullets was extracted from a cache equipped between the frame and the passenger seat lining.
Vitebsk customs officers found another batch in the cavity of the refrigeration unit of a refrigerated trailer traveling from Lithuania across the Belarusian-Latvian border.
The Lithuanian carrier's truck crossed the border through the Grigorovshchina checkpoint.
The cache of bullets helped to establish X-ray inspection complex. As a result of further inspection, six thousand bullets were extracted from the cavity of the refrigeration unit.
Brest and Vitebsk customs have started administrative processes in accordance with Part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus.
